Questions, answered
The things every shop owner asks.
Does it really work without the internet?
Yes. Repair Shop runs entirely on your own computer — book repairs, take payments and print invoices with the internet completely disconnected. It only needs to connect occasionally (about once a month) to keep your licence current and to fetch updates.
Which trades is it for?
Any repair trade. When you set up, you pick your trade — phone, computer, watch, footwear, motorcycle, appliance or general — and the app tailors intake fields and workflow to suit. You're not forced into an electronics-only template.
Where is my data stored?
In an encrypted database on your own machine, in your standard app-data folder. It survives updates, it's not sitting on a server you can't see, and a malicious staff member can't just open it with a spreadsheet.
Can several people use it at once?
Every staff member gets their own login, password and permissions, and every sign-in is logged. On the Team and Business plans you can run it across multiple computers in the shop.
What happens if I get a new computer?
You can move your licence to a new computer yourself from Settings, which frees the seat so you can activate on the replacement machine.
Do you take a cut of my sales?
No. Repair Shop is a flat subscription per shop. What you charge your customers is entirely between you and them — we never touch your takings.
Can I take card payments and message customers?
Yes to both. Take cards through your own Stripe account — the customer pays on a secure page and the money lands straight in your account, never ours. And you can text or email customers automatically, including a “ready for pickup” message, from your own email and SMS.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel whenever you like from the self-serve billing area or by emailing us, and you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Since your data lives on your own computer, nothing is ever held hostage.
